How does double cleansing work?

Dermalogica Double Cleanse starts with an oil-based cleanser to remove oily debris such as make-up, sunscreen, dust, and pollutants. Then it follows up with the cleanser specifically designed to target breakout concerns, sensitivity, and dryness.
Each Dermalogica cleanser is pH-balanced (between 4 and 6 on the pH scale) to match the pH of your skin and rinses easily away without stripping your skin of its natural oils.
Double cleansing is the quickest and easiest way to achieve your healthiest skin.
What products should I use for my double cleanse?
Step 1:
Our recommendation is to begin your cleanse with an oil-based cleanser.
Two options are available from Dermalogica: PreCleanse Oil for balanced/oily skin and PreCleanse Balm for balanced/dry skin.
Using this product, your skin's excess oil, waterproof make-up, environmental pollutants, and residual product buildup on the skin will be naturally drawn and absorbed by the plant-based oils.
Despite their similar effectiveness at removing sunscreen, make-up, and dirt, the PreCleanse Balm contains more plant oils to nourish drier skin.
The oil-based cleanser not only breaks down debris; it also strengthens your skin barrier, softens your skin, and makes your second cleanser and other products work more effectively to help you achieve your goals.

Your skin will be cleansed gently with this superb foam cleanser. It has a mild formula that is perfect for daily use.
The combination of Balm Mint and Lavender delivers pure calmness to the skin and senses. In this cleanser, you will find Quillaja Saponaria, a natural, foaming agent that soothes the skin and leaves you feeling relaxed. It produces a thick and full lather without dehydrating the skin.
